Clinical and operational safeguards

Care requires authority, competence and accountability.

The information team can explain and coordinate. Only the authorized clinical organization can credential professionals, define scope, supervise care, hold clinical records and make patient decisions.

01

Credential before placement

Verify identity, education, registration, specialty evidence, professional standing, relevant experience, references, language support and insurance before assigning any clinical role.

02

Respect lawful scope

A title or foreign licence does not itself authorize practice in the DRC. The host and responsible authorities determine the permitted role, supervision and limits.

03

Consent is separate

Consent to receive website information is not consent to medical care. Consent to treatment is not consent to photography or publication.

04

Protect personal information

Collect only what is needed, restrict access, secure transmission and storage, define retention and never request patient records through a general inquiry form.

05

Safeguarding has no shortcut

Codes, training, safe reporting channels, non-retaliation, responsible handling and survivor-centred support must be operational—not only written.

06

Photography needs informed permission

Facility authorization and voluntary, understandable, separate image consent are required. Refusal must never affect care, travel support or assistance.

07

Donations begin with recipient need

Medicines and equipment require request, regulatory review, quality checks, storage, training, maintenance, consumables and disposal planning.

08

Incidents become learning

Prioritize immediate safety, notify the responsible channel, document facts, protect records and use review to reduce future risk rather than merely count events.
